Every year, one of my favorite holiday traditions is making homemade ornaments with my daughter. While handmade projects are always sweet and heartfelt, I also like to maintain a clean, neutral aesthetic in my holiday decorating. This rules out most of the typical DIY kid ornaments, but I’m here to prove that you can be sentimental AND stylish in your Christmas decor! I promise!
These DIY Scandinavian inspired Christmas ornaments do just that. They are easy, inexpensive, come together quickly, and my 6 year old had a blast helping me!
So what are we waiting for? Let’s garher our supplies!
You will need:
- white cotton yarn
- wooden beads in 3 different sizes
- scissors
- a blunt yarn needle
First, cut a length of yarn that is about 12 inches long. The wooden beads I use are sized 30mm, 25mm, and 20mm. If you are using smaller beads, you’ll need less yarn.
Fold the yarn in half and tie a knot at the folded end.
Thread on your beads using the yarn needle. I made a pattern of smallest to biggest to smallest, but you feel free to follow your heart on this one!
Tie a knot after the last bead, then tie another knot so you can hang it up!
Now how easy was that!! You could even tie a bow around the top which I am seriously considering. So get to crafting and be sure and tag @thedefineryco on Instagram with your creations to be featured!
